Happy One Year Anniversary to ME!

I cannot believe it’s been ONE YEAR GUYS!!!

I have been off the grid for awhile but I just want to thank everyone who has supported and stayed with me through my fails and my hits… I hope you will continue on to grow with me.

In my first year I had a “to do” list of sorts and I thought it might be cool to share that now and see how I fared:

1. Reach 100 followers on my blog – BIG YES to this – thank you to everyone who follows my flog!

2. Get a Twitter Account and get 200 followers there (I thought this might be tough) – but happy to report I MADE IT! Thanks guys!!

3. Befriend one amazing author and help support their work. WOW Yes, I have so many people to thank here – Jessica Park, Emma Chase, Katie McGarry, Colleen Hoover, Lauren Oliver, and so many more! I have met via online more authors than I could ever dream – the authors I dream about taking time to talk to me on FB or Twitter has meant more than anything else, it’s why I wanted to become a blogger to support these wonderful people!

4. To get a chance to read books “before” they hit the market – so sue me, I wanted to be part of the cool kids club. and YES i have to say I don’t get every book I ask for, but I do get a good part, nothing to complain over for sure! I still buy my fare share, so Amazon never has to worry about losing me as a customer….

5. To get to know what Indie writing is all about. WOW have I really learned about this this year – some of my best reads for 2013-2014 have been the indies that were self pubslished and still stole my heart. I try to promote these as often as i can – these books and characters deserve as much love as the largest authors and stories out on the market. The indie writers have touched my heart, but more than that they have made me feel like maybe i have  a place in this world outside of blogging….

6. To evaluate my own life and what part reading plays into it. Well, like all things “me” i dove in head first and over did it. Then I had to put the breaks on, now I’m trying to work some balance into the picture – so we shall see how this goes. I still read a TON but I’m trying to be more selective of what I review and only review things I feel like I really want my readers to read and/or at least know about. No worries about my reading habits here though, I still read pretty much anything I can get my hands on…..haha…

7. To Become friends with other bloggers I can share my love of books with: Now to this I would say YES in some ways and NO in others. When I first came along I spent the time to troll other blogs and communicate. I was honestly hoping I would find a book BFF somewhere in the internet land.. No one I know shares my true love of books and especially the genres I love so much – so while I have been active on forums I haven’t found my “click” yet. The cloest thing I have to a blog I follow and would love to be a part of is the Aestas Blog – I follow them religiously and they seem like cool chicks – maybe one day I can be part of that, maybe not – for now i’m happy sharing thoughts and seeing their thoughts about my favorite subject.

8. Did I say 10 really?? Hmmm… #8 to really start looking outside of the YA genre. When I started thsi that was my main focus. If you read my blog at all, you will know that I have OVERLY achieved this. I have fallen in love with this new genre… New Adult (Iknow everyone has mixed feelings here) and I also love the adult world to a point (AKA Sylvia Day, Alice Clayton, E.L. James, and of course Emma Chase). I have been introduced to so many new authors and for that i’m thankful everyday! So keep it coming in this aspect!

9. I want to attend a BEA Conference. This is one of my biggest wishes – and I don’t know that it can happen this year…. but I want it to happen soon. All my dreams would come true here, to be part of the real blogging community and to meet some of my favorite authors – nothing would be better! It would be like Christmas and my birthday all rolled into one – are any of you guys going this year???

10. Last, but certainly, not least I would like to meet Stephanie Meyer. Without “Twilight” I don’t know that I would have gotten back into reading on this scale and fallen in love with this genre leading to my blog/etc. Meeting her would be…amazing.

11. I have to add one last one, I want to have a blurb – Yes a blurb on the back cover of a book or in a description of a book on amazo – i’m not picky, i’ll take what I can get but to see my writing helping show off soemone else’s would be amazing!

All Right guys that’s about it. I can tell you about one cool thing I did this year and why it was a “bookish” cool thing..

I was in NYC last month for Toy Fair (yes for my real job) and I had a minute, and i picked to site see the NYC Public Library – specifically the Rose Reading Room. Have you been? If not you are missing out big time! For readers, it’s like…heaven. THe smell of books, the quiet, the smell…ahhh I could have spent all day there. Most importantly i was picturing a scene from one of my favorite books there – If you have read “Beautiful Stranger” in the “Beautiful Bastard” series you know what I mean – and that scene is HOT. So, I flushed, sniffed the great smell, sat in a chair in the famous reading room and bid it a fond farewell – believe me I’ll be back. It was then I realized just how much books had become a part of my life. Here I was picking this of anywhere to sight see – and it was the best place i’ve been there in a long while. Just to enjoy the quiet for a few moments, to know all the words contained in all those books I can’t wait to read. The whole expanse of knowledge and stories I have yet to find… It’s humbling and amazing all at the same time.

So happy blog anniversary to me! And to you – thank you ALL for sticking around and making it worth my while!

Happy Thursday Everyone!

Your fellow Blogger –

Kell

Cannot contain my excitement on this – LOVE this series – and cannot wait to see how it all ties together for Aria and Perry. I’ve requested an ARC on Edelweiss – so I’m keeping my fingers crossed I get it, but if not I’ll be waiting like everyone else until Jan 2014 – which seems like forever!! If you haven’t read the rest of the series yet, totally check it out!

Happy Reading!

Top Ten Tuesday – July 30th

Hosted by the Broke and the Bookish @ http://brokeandbookish.blogspot.com/

This week was all about our favorite beginnings and endings. You could have just gone with beginnings or endings or both but I decided to do both – more endings than beginings because that is what tends to stay with me… I have two books that fall into both categories – they had me from the first moment to the last page I read so check it out:

Tangled (Tangled, #1)by Emma Chase

“Do you see that unshowered, unshaven heap on the couch? The guy in the dirty grey t-shirt and ripped sweatpants? That’s me, Drew Evans.  I’m not usually like this.  I mean, that really isn’t me…..

“As I look at the troubled expression of my big bitch of a sister, I’m thrown back twenty-two years back in time.  I’m six years old and my hamster, Mr. Wuzzles, has just died. And just like that day, the painful truth is ripped from my lungs. “It finally happened.”  “What happened?”  “What you’v ebeen wishing on me all these years,” I whisper.  “I fell in love”

*After these first lines – in the first chapter I was hooked – I had a love/hate feeling for this guy but the humor and how he was so real/raw took me in. This is by far one of the funniest books I’ve ever read.. Get it today – I promise you’ll love it!

Delirium (Delirium, #1)“Delirium” by Lauren Oliver

“The most dangerous sicknesses are those that make us believe we’re well. – Proverb 42, The Book of Shhh”

*I absolutely cannot say enough about this book and series, it had me from page one to the very end of the last book… amazing!

If I Stay (If I Stay, #1)“If I Stay” by Gayle Forman

“Everyone thinks it was because of the snow.”

*Again – this is another book I was hooked sentence one, page one — amazing book!

Now for the endings!

Delirium (Delirium, #1)“Delirium” by Lauren Oliver

“He is looking at me through the smoke, across the fence. He never takes his eyes off of me. His hair is a crown of leaves, of thorns, of flames.  His eyes are blazing with light, more light than all the lights in every city in the whole world, more light than we could ever invent if we had ten thousand billion years.  And then he opens his mouth and his mouth forms one last word.  The word is: RUN.”

*WOW – This book had me by the seat of my pants from start to finish – and drove me through the rest of the series too..amazing writing!

Pandemonium (Delirium, #2)“Pandemonium” by Lauren Oliver

“I promise,” I say.  Behind us the door creaks open, and I turn around, expecting Raven, just as a voice cuts through the air: “Don’t believe her.”  The whole world closes around me, like an eyelid: For a moment, everything goes dark.  I am falling.  My ears are full of rushing; I have been sucked into a tunnel, a place of pressure and chaos.  My head is about to explode.”

*Again – WOW Oliver knows how to leave you with a cliff hanger, I couldn’t get my hands on requiem fast enough…

Requiem (Delirium, #3)“Requiem” by Lauren Oliver

“Take down the walls.
That is, after all, the whole point.
You do not know what will happen if you take down the walls; you cannot see through to the other side, don’t know whether it will bring freedom or ruin, resolution or chaos. It might be paradise or destruction.
Take down the walls.
Otherwise you must live closely, in fear, building barricades against the unknown, saying prayers against the darkness, speaking verse of terror and tightness.
Otherwise you may never know hell; but you will not find heaven, either. You will not know fresh air and flying.
All of you, wherever you are: in your spiny cities, or your one bump towns. Find it, the hard stuff, the links of metal and chink, the fragments of stone filling you stomach.
And pull, and pull, and pull.
I will make a pact with you: I will do it if you will do it, always and forever.
Take down the walls.”

* I quoted this when I reviewed this book – amazing writing. It has been stuck in my head ever since — so many meanings and just so meaningful to the story. I know it didn’t give a lot of readers the resolution they wanted – but i think it really brought the point of the story home..so much meaning and so much to fight for.. Awesome series.

Under the Never Sky (Under ...“Under the Never Sky” By Veronica Rossi

“She shot into the darkness, letting her ears guide her.  She followed the crunch of his feet on stones and small twigs, coming faster, louder, as his walk became a jog, then a run.  She chased the sounds until all she heard was his heartbeat and then his breath and his voice, right by her ear, telling her, in tones as warm as fire, exactly the words she wanted to hear.”

*Another amazing series – I also loved the end of the second book, no real quote there but just the idea they were together and in search of the blue sky together – one of the best second book endings ever, and I loved this as much. Rossi is an amazing writer!

Breaking Dawn (Twilight, #4)“Breaking Dawn” Stephanie Meyer

“I pressed my hands to his face again, hefted the shield right out of my mind, and then started where I’d left off-with the crystal-clear memory of the first night of my new life..lingering on the details.  I laughted breathlessly when his urgent kissw interrupted my new efforts again.  “Damn it,” he growled, kissing hungrily down the edge of my jaw.  “We have plenty of time to work on it,” I murmured.  “That sounds exactly right to me.”  And then we continued blissfully into this small but perfect piece of our forever.”

*I am a tru Twilight fan and this was the best ending of this story i could have imagined – the last sentence just shows all they were fighting for, all the hard work, and the turmoil – they won. They get their daughter, their family, and their forever together – Seeing her lift her shield so he can see in her thoughts and then that line sealed the end of the book for me – great ending!

If I Stay (If I Stay, #1)“If I stay” by Gayle Forman

“If you stay, I’ll do whatever you want.  I’ll quit the band, go with you to New York.  But if you need me to go away, I’ll do that too.  I was talking to Liz and she said maybe it’d be easier for you to erase us.  And that would suck, but I’ll do it.  I can lose you like that if I don’t lose you today.  I’ll let you go. If you stay.”

*Tear— What a selfless thing to say – I loved the raw feeling in this book and his character – what a selfless act to offer to dissapear from someone’s life just to make sure they live, to give up your own happiness for someone else’s.. It just – confounded me to be honest. Amazing writing and I loved the second book just as much *spoiler alert* — I was happy  for them both to get their happy ending in the end of the second book.. *sigh*

Divergent (Divergent, #1)“Divergent” by Veronica Roth

“I am no longer Tris, the selfless, or Tris, the brave. I suppose that now, I must become more than either.”

*You can feel Tris changing when you read this, feel the raw grief of her realiziation her whole world is changing and nothing will be the same ever again – Great female role in a book – and definetly left me wanting more.

Well that’s it guys – hope you enjoyed and love to hear yours! I’m sure there are tons of things i left out – it’s hard to think of everything you’ve ever read and what stuck out and even harder to get back to all those quotes – but it was a great topic! Something I”d like to cover again and give myself more time to pull together – quotes make a story to me, and I love pointing out who these made the books stick in my mind forever.

Happy Tuesday!

Top Ten Tuesday – July 16th

Hosted by The Broke and the Bookish @ http://brokeandbookish.blogspot.com/2013/07/top-ten-tuesday-top-ten-authors-who.html

This week’s topic is Top Ten Authors Who Deserve More Recognition

——–

I was super excited to do this week’s Top Ten. I forget how lucky we are in the blogging world to get to read all the new and upcoming authors and I feel so lucky to read some of these books first and to get the word out how amazing they are! So here’s my list! Excited to see everyone else’s too – post yours in the comment if you don’t blog or give me a link – excited to maybe find some new authors I’d like to check out!

top ten tuesday july 16

So i’m trying something a little new there with the artwork thing – not totally sure it’s clear but i’ll list below too and tell you WHY they are super awesome!

1. Kasie West: I just read “The Distance Between Us” not too long ago and LOVED the book – what a perfect summer read and I thought her writing was great, excited to see new things coming from her!

2. Veronica Rossi: I loved the “Under the Never Sky” books so far and am SUPER excited to see the new book coming out next year – the ending of the second book was probably one of the best middle book endings EVER!

3. Leah Rae Miller: I read “The Summer I Became a Nerd” earlier this year and really enjoyed it. Her writing is funny and yet not corny. Hope we see something from her again too soon!

4. Emma Chase: Now this is absolutely an up and coming author! If you have’t heard me rave about “Tangled” yet — check out my review. OMG. Her writing is hilarious and down to earth and I loved the male POV throughout the story — I just could not stop laughing, but at the same time it was a great storyline and well written. You have to check her out if you have not yet!

5. J. Kenner: This is the author of the Stark series which includes “Claim Me”, “Release Me”, and “Complete Me” – and i hope a 4th book soon. These came out after the 50 shades and the Sylvia Day series but I just really liked this writing more than either of the other two to be honest – so check it out!

6. Jessica Park: WOW – that is all I can say.. She has a book coming out today actually, “Left Drowning” – a MUST read and I was lucky enough to read before hand, check out my review here and a special first chapter exerpt! She is also the author of “Flat Out Love” and “Flat Out Matt” and is maybe my favorite author right now – her writing is funny and real at the same time with characters you just want to fall in love with. Let’s just say that with all 3 books I was hooked in the first few pages!

7. Alice Clayton: She wrote “Wallbanger” and I really enjoyed this. It’s a new series I think – so we should see more here and I am looking forward to it, I liked that here you saw the male POV and the female POV at the same time.

8. Jamie McGuire: “Beautiful Disaster” and “Walking Disaster” are books I could read over and over, and have done so. Her new books are due out this fall and I absolutely cannot wait! I know she probably gets more publicity than some of the others on here, but I still think she deserves more – her writing and characters are amazing!

9. Jennifer Probst: Now this author isn’t brand new, but i still don’t think she gets all the raving she deserves. I’m reading her “Millionaire” series which the newest book “Marriage Merger” is out in August – when I read her first book I was listening on audio and I was in my mall parking lot – cannot forget this – I was laughing so hard in the car alone, I was getting strange looks. these books are romantic and hot and fun – with great characters (which will get me eveyrtime!). I also enjoy seeing the male and female POV here concurrently as the story goes on.

10. Suzanne Young: If you have not read “The Program” yet, then you may live under a rock, get out and read it NOW! I was honestly not sure about this book, it’s probably one of the first more well known titles i got an ARC for – and I could not put it down, and cannot wait for book 2. There is a teaser first chapter up now and it only shows how absolutely amazing this is going to be – check it out!

I have a few other authors I want to mention – outside of my top ten who are just as amazing I couldn’t let it go without them being included:

1. Maya Banks – She has the Rush series and I highly reccommend it

2. Jay Crownover – I’m just discovering the Market Men series with hot bad boys, and reading “Rule” right now – again liking the male and female POV but enjoying the writing too – the characters are flawed and real and great.. It’s TBD how I will like the book, but from the start I think I’d check a second book out for sure!

3. Katie Kacvinsky – She wrote “Awaken” and “Middle Ground” in the middle of this huge dystropian age we have going on and I loved her stories more than most of the others that made huge waves, so I’m trying to get her name out there – she took something everyone else was doing and made it different – she also writes contemporary romances – one of them being “Second Chance” so I would absolutely reccommend checking her out!

Well that’s all kids – for today anyway! Don’t forget that Jessica Park’s new book “Left Drowning” comes out today – check out the first chapter preview and book review on my blog and get this today – a great read!!

“Tangled” by Emma Chase – A Sexy, Hot, and Hilarious MUST Read!

Tangled (Tangled, #1)

“Tangled” by Emma Chase

Published by: Omnific Publishing

Published:  May 20, 2013

How I got the book: purchased from Amazon

Summary From GoodReads:

Drew Evans is a winner. Handsome and arrogant, he makes multimillion dollar business deals and seduces New York’s most beautiful women with just a smile. He has loyal friends and an indulgent family. So why has he been shuttered in his apartment for seven days, miserable and depressed?

He’ll tell you he has the flu.

But we all know that’s not really true.

Katherine Brooks is brilliant, beautiful and ambitious.  She refuses to let anything – or anyone – derail her path to success. When Kate is hired as the new associate at Drew’s father’s investment banking firm, every aspect of the dashing playboy’s life is thrown into a tailspin. The professional competition she brings is unnerving, his attraction to her is distracting, his failure to entice her into his bed is exasperating.

Then, just when Drew is on the cusp of having everything he wants, his overblown confidence threatens to ruin it all.  Will he be able untangle his feelings of lust and tenderness, frustration and fulfillment? Will he rise to the most important challenge of his life?

Can Drew Evans win at love?

Tangled is not your mother’s romance novel.  It is an outrageous, passionate, witty narrative about a man who knows a lot about women…just not as much as he thinks he knows.  As he tells his story, Drew learns the one thing he never wanted in life, is the only thing he can’t live without.

My Thoughts:

This book is a MUST read for anyone who loves adult romances. It’s a great, and fun read! I have no idea the last time I enjoyed a book so much in this way and laughed so much while I was reading it.  From the first page, the first paragraph I was laughing and I was totally commited to the book by the end of that page. I love that Emma Chase told the entire book from the male POV. Lately, there has been a trend of coming out with a male POV after the female version does well, so I loved this one came right from the male and unfiltered too! I also really enjoyed that it felt like he was talking to the reader, telling you the story – it sucks  you right in.  The only way I can describe it is…awesome! I started this book while I was flying for business with my husband and I was laughing so much he asked me what I was reading – I even had him rolling when I read small parts to him. He confirmed this unfiltered guy thought is pretty right on! We women always wonder what goes on inside of those heads – well this is an uncensored view into a guy’s head.. Chase’s writing was amazing. It is a hot romance, laugh-out-loud funny, witty dialogue, and cheesy romantic at moments..it’s basically an Epic book!

The Characters:

Let’s start with Drew since he is the main POV. I already gushed about this enough – so you know I loved having him as the main and only POV in this story. It made the story fresh and fun, set apart from every other romance book coming out now. Drew is hilarious. He is sexy hot, romantic (even though he wouldn’t admit this at first), smart, kind, confident (to the point of cockiness sometimes) and honest. He’s the perfect man with a dirty mouth. He also has the “only child” syndrome (despite not being an only child oddly enough) and to some extent is very immature in the relationship arena.. The way he tells the story is raw and honest, you could see or read him fighting with himself about falling for Kate – and I absolutely loved seeing inside of the male’s head during this process in a man’s life.. He is losing his control – well really losing his mind and we get to see it all unravel. In the begining i was reading to see his train wreck, the witty banter – but towards the end I was reading it with a big “Pick Drew” sign in my hands – he had even gotten me under his spell..haha.. He is a great character.

Now on to Kate – she is tough as nails, smart, funny and witty, and per the descritpion or in Drew’s opinion knock out gorgeous. She doesn’t give in to Drew at first and stands her ground, determined not to be intimated. One of my favorite scenes is when they are doing research – he takes one article and won’t give it back, so she takes the entire library..haha.. She was witty and able to keep up with him no doubt about that. Their chemistry was also amazing. While Drew had never had a girlfriend, Kate had only had one, so I think they were both learning as they go to some extent. It made for a wonderful story.

Overall Take-Away:

This book is an absolute must read. I will include some quotes below – and if you don’t laugh..well I don’t know how none of these would make you laugh – but I suggest stopping whatever you are doing, heading tot he bookstore or Amazon and getting this book. Clear your calender and read it! You will not regret it.. If you’re in a slump of those ooh too serious books, this is the perfect read. If you’re on a beach just relaxing – perfect read. And if you need some great laughter and humor with some hot romance, perfect book! The story line is fresh and real. It’s being told from the male POV and seeing inside of his head makes the story that much better.  I also think the way it’s told as if you’re being told a story makes you feel part of the book, like he is talking to you – loved that! Drew is unfiltered, honest to a fault sometimes, raw, and real.  Kate is his perfect match. I just read a book called “Lola and the Boy Next Door” by Stephanie Perkins and in the end she references that no one is perfect, but everyone is a perfect match for somoene else – and I love that and think it’s true here. Drew truly didn’t believe in love until he found Kate.. and his level of worship for her is swoon worthy! Drew was a character that took you in by the first page and while you love to hate him in the begining, you’ll be rooting him on in the end. Now – where is book #2?? I cannot wait — I need a second book now! This book gets 5/5 sunshines for it’s funny, romantic, and well told story. Check out the quotes below and then click on the link and buy the book from Amazon – you know you want to!! Get it! Today! Then tell me what you think!! So – check out the quotes and if you are not convinced already – then buy the book and read it, right away!

Quotes from the story:

“You know on TV when there’s one of those awkward, shocking moments and all you hear are the crickets in the background?

Well chirp fucking chirp…this is one of those moments.”

————-

“It’s simple guy logic: If a woman is angry? It means she cares. If you’re in a relationship and a chick can’t even be bothered to yell at you? You’re screwed. Indifference is a woman’s kiss of death. It’s the equivalent of a man not interested in sex. In either case—it’s over. You’re done.”

————-

“Newsflash, ladies: We can’t read your thoughts. And frankly, I’m not entirely sure I’d want to. The female mind is a scary place to be.”

————-

“Edward Cullen can take his stupid heroine and OD on it. Kate is my own personal brand of Viagra.”

*Had to add the above, since I’m a Twilight fan and all–haha

————-

“I’m going to fight to prove to you that this is real.  That I’m not going anywhere and that what I feel for you isn’t going to change.  And then someday – maybe not any time soon, but one day – I’m going to tell you that you, Kate Brooks, are the love of my life, and you won’t have any doubt that it’s true.”

Now – where to buy: Amazon – and it’s ONLY $4.99 – so get it today!! Don’t Delay – you have to hear this story!!

I just finished “Tangled” by Emma Chase over the weekend – hilarious book with hot and steamy moments – absolutely reccommend! Review to post soon!

Tangled (Tangled, #1)

3. What am I going to read next?

Now – this is the question of the ages.. And I SWEAR it changes every time – I look back at these posts and I don’t think there is even one where I kept my answer true to form.. But as of this moment, my next planned read is “The Marriage Merger” by Jennifer Probst. I actually started it before this current book, but then I got my ARC in the mail for this and it’s due by 7/1 so I had to sideline that to get this one done – so I’m fairly certain this week I’ll keep with my next book – imagine that huh?

The Marriage Merger (Marria...

Top Ten Tuesday – Top Books of 2013!

Hosted by The Broke and The Bookish @ http://brokeandbookish.blogspot.com/

Happy Tuesday! This week’s Top Ten list is yout top list of 2013 so far~ now.. I have read 55 books so far this year – and while I was looking back for the life of me I couldn’t limit this to 10 books (I know, I know – but I just couldn’t!) so I have my Top 13 (unlike many people 13 is a lucky number for me..go figure!) books of 2013 – check it out! Love to hear back about yours too – post your link below or just post your list as a comment if you don’t have a blog – or feel free to comment on mine! Hope Everyone has an awesome day and here we go!

Top 13 Books of 2013 Thus Far:

Flat-Out Love (Flat-Out Love, #1)Flat-Out Matt (Flat-Out Love, #1.5)My first book (or book and a half) are these two from Jessica Park – these are also on my all time favorite list! Reccommend highly!

Left DrowningBook #2 is also by Jessica Park – I got an ARC and LOVED it! Publish date is 7/16 – check it out!

Delirium (Delirium, #1)Pandemonium (Delirium, #2)Requiem (Delirium, #3)Book #3 is Delirium (the whole series actually) – by Lauren Oliver – Amazing!! Definetly Reccommend!

Tangled (Tangled, #1)Book #4 – had to throw in something lighter and I thought this book was written so well by Emma Chase.. Romantic and Funny a must read for 2013!

Complete Me (Stark Trilogy, #3)Book #5 by J. Kenner. These series, the Stark Series is amazing and this final book releases on 7/19 – Love the characters and the romance – fun adult read!

Beautiful Disaster (Beautiful, #1)Walking Disaster (Beautiful, #2)Book #6 is the Beautiful series by Jamie McGuire – amazing! Disaster is the female POV and Walking Disaster is the male POV. Love how the story is told from both sides – and I loved each book equally!

Anna and the French Kiss (Anna and the French Kiss, #1)Lola and the Boy Next Door (Anna and the French Kiss, #2)Book #7 is the French Kiss series by Stephanie Perkins. I was just introduced to her writing this year – how have I missed this for so long?? She’s so great and I can’t wait for “Isla and the Happily Ever After” to come out!

The Program (The Program, #1)Book #8 is by Suzanne Young – this may be the best first book of a series I’ve read in a long time – cannot wait for book 2 now! Dark topic but written so well that it’s still a great read.

Rush (Breathless, #1)Fever (Breathless, #2)Book #9 is the Breathless series by Maya Banks — Great reading and the 3rd book comes out this fall! Great adult romance.

Pushing the Limits (Pushing the Limits, #1)Dare You To (Pushing the Limits, #2)Book #10 is the Pushing the Limits series by Katie McGarry. New YA writer for me this year and I absolutely enjoyed both books and looking forward to the 3rd – no release date on the 3rd yet, but the first two are on the market right now – they are the perfect mix of dark and light fun – not too light but still have great humor and light, fun romance – higly reccomend!

The Elite (The Selection, #2)Book #11 – by Kiera Cass. The first book came out last year and really wowed me, so I was excited for the follow up and it did not dissappoint, the only negative here is that we have to wait an entire year (yes 1 year!) before book #3 comes out… and without doubt I absolutey cannot wait!

Under the Never Sky (Under the Never Sky, #1)Through the Ever Night (Under the Never Sky, #2)Book #12 is this series by Veronica Roth – now this book had the absolute best 2nd book ending I’ve read in awhile – and it certainly left me wanting more and excited about book #3 – don’t have an ETA on that yet, but I’m sure I’ll want to get my hands on it right away~

Awaken (Awaken, #1)Middle Ground (Awaken, #2)and last, but not least is Book #13 the Awaken series by Katie Kacvinsky – now I haven’t found a ton of people who have read this, the first book came out last year, but the second book “Middle Ground” came out March this year and I really love the writing in these books, if you are a fan of “Matched” and “Divergent” or any of the dystropian series, I would reccommend this – great reading!

So that’s all for me today folks – now I know I am way over the “top ten” technical term, and most of my “books” are series, but I’ve read so many wonderful things this year, I absolutely could not limit it down – so I hope you enjoyed! And love to hear your feedback and your top 10 for this year too!

Happy Tuesday!

Monday Musing June 24th

MusingMondays5Hosted by Should Be Reading @ http://shouldbereading.wordpress.com/2013/06/24/musing-mondays-june-24/

Musing Mondays asks you to muse about one of the following each week…

• Describe one of your reading habits. • Tell us what book(s) you recently bought for yourself or someone else, and why you chose that/those book(s). • What book are you currently desperate to get your hands on? Tell us about it! • Tell us what you’re reading right now — what you think of it, so far; why you chose it; what you are (or, aren’t) enjoying it. • Do you have a bookish rant? Something about books or reading (or the industry) that gets your ire up? Share it with us! • Instead of the above questions, maybe you just want to ramble on about something else pertaining to books — let’s hear it, then!

————————————

Happy Monday Everyone! Here is my Musing for this Monday!

hmm…what to discuss.. I think I’ll talk about a reading habit this week – if you guys know what i’m talking about, chime in! Love to hear your feedback!

My most annoying reading habit since becoming a blogger is my TBR list and how insane I have grown it.. Since I can see books on Netgalley and Edelweiss and know what’s coming down the pike, I request them and then magically there they are on my kindle.. At first it was super magical and awesome, and trust me it still is! But now i’m dealing with a TBR list that is unmanageable – and overwhelming to be honest. I have over 50 books on my TBR list right now, not including the ones I have bought myself to add to the list. I love blogging and I LOVE reading and I just don’t want it to ever become a chore, and having too many books is NOT a problem – but I think I need to learn to better manage it.. Any tips would be amazing! Right now I’m on a hold up – not adding anything else until i get a plan to review what I have already — and again – 100% not complaining about the over abundance of books, I’m lucky for that matter! My annoyance is more with myself and for choosing so many and not considering the time to read and review each one, and I truly want to be fair to the authors. So, my solution is this for now, and again PLEASE post any suggestions if you have them(!): I will not purchase or request any further books at the moment, and I’m going to start scheduling reviews for my blog to give myself dates, and ETAs to get this done —  Needing to schedule reviews is new and exciting and means I must be doing something right ot get these books to review, right? I think so – so that’s the plan and I’m sticking to it — Sorry for the ramble.. Hope everyone has an awesome Monday! Since I didn’t inlcude anything from a book here – thought I’d include a quote from the book I just finished: “Tangled” By Emma Chase – if you don’t have it – get it NOW! It’s hilarious and wonderful writing and an awesome POV. See  ya!

Quotes (Please note there are 5 quotes below – the first being my favorite and I think this shows how hilarious this book is.. If you don’t laugh at this guy’s insane thoughts, not sure what would make you laugh then – but anyway it has adult language so be warned!) from “Tangled” By Emma Chase:

Quote 1

“Edward Cullen can take his stupid heroine and OD on it. Kate is my own personal brand of Viagra.”

Quote 2

“You ever seen A Christmas Story? You know toward the end when Ralphie beats the ever-loving shit out of the bully? I hope to God you’ve seen it. Because then you’ll know exactly what I mean when I say I’m about to go real fucking Ralphie on this son of a bitch.”

Quote 3

“I once heard my mother tell my father that she shouldn’t have to explain why she was pissed. That if he didn’t already know what he’d done wrong, then he wasn’t really sorry for it. What the fuck does that even mean? Newsflash, ladies: We can’t read your thoughts. And frankly, I’m not entirely sure I’d want to. The female mind is a scary place to be.”

Quote 4

“No man wants to f*ck a skeleton-and nibbling crackers and water like a prisoner of war at dinner isn’t attractive.”

Quote 5

“Fine’s a funny word, don’t you think? I don’t think there’s another like it in the English language that says so much while actually saying so little.”

Hope those leave you laughing! Happy Monday!

WWW Wednesday for June 19th

WWW_Wednesdays4Hosted by Should Be Reading @ http://shouldbereading.wordpress.com/2013/06/19/www-wednesdays-june-19/

To play along, just answer the following three (3) questions…

• What are you currently reading? • What did you recently finish reading? • What do you think you’ll read next?

1. I am currently reading “Tangled” by Emma Chase and loving it. I’ve never read anything quite like this before – it’s funny and hilarious and I really love the main character who is actually a man.. Just love the way the story is told! Hot and hilarious – great combo!

Tangled (Tangled, #1)

2. What did I read before this? Sadly enough i’m really having to think about this – that’s how crazy with work and travel things have been.. hmm.. it was “Dare You To” by Katie McGarry and I Loved it!

Dare You To (Pushing the Li...

3. What will I read next? Well my TBR list, as most of yours, is insane! But I just got my netgalley approval of “The Marriage Merger” by Jennifer Probst and I’m super excited so I feel like this will be next!

The Marriage Merger (Marria...

I’ve been on a bit of a shopping spree lately and I have 4 or 5 books i’m dying to read, but this was way up there and getting to read it early is SUPER exciting, so I feel pretty safe saying it’s next. If you haven’t read anything by Probst before – check her out – LOVE her books!

So that’s it for me and my WWW Wednesday – how about all of you? What are your WWW’s? Leave your link below or if you don’t have a blog just answer along! Love to hear what’s going on with you!

Happy Reading!

Sunday Salon – Blog News You Need to Know!

sundaysalon3Happy Sunday fellow bloggers and fans! I’ve had a hectic week at work including my current trip/adventure to Nashville where I’m at now for a tradeshow – so crazy busy. Good news is thanks to all of you I’ve had the most commenting and views this week yet – so thanks ya’ll! I love hearing feedback and chatting about books and what you’re reading/etc – so let’s keep it going! So for the Sunday Salon, to my knowledge its just about whatever you want to talk about.. I’m going with what i’m reading now, what I just finished, a quote about my current book, and then one blog rant/announcement just to throw something different in there! So let’s get chatting – this is the Salon right?

Right now I’m reading “Tangled” by Emma Chase –

Tangled (Tangled, #1)

It’s from a male POV so I wasnt’ sure at first (saw this on someone else’s blog as part of their Top Ten Tuesday) and before i knew it I hit click on amazon and it was mine! So anyway, back to this — so far it’s been hilariouis and seeing it from a male’s side has been interesting.  Because of work/etc I’m not too far in, but I have high hopes that this will be the light, funny read I need right now after some heavier books with heavy topics. Sometimes a little hot, steamy, and romantic loving is exactly what you need to lighten up after those heavy reads! If you’re in need of that – check this out! It’s $4.99 on amazon right now – link below:

http://www.amazon.com/Tangled-The-Series-ebook/dp/B00CW665VI/ref=sr_1_1_bnp_1_kin?ie=UTF8&qid=1371353676&sr=8-1&keywords=tangled+emma+chase

Now – I just finished reading “Dare You To” by Katie Mcgarry and it was AMAZING. I really loved it. She has a shorter novel “Crossing the Line” i’m planning on checking out next! I would definetly reccommend this! I’ll paste the link to my full review below too – check it out!

Dare You To (Pushing the Li...

My Review Link: https://bookgirlfromsouthcarolina.wordpress.com/

The link on Amazon if you want to check it out: http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_ss_c_0_11?url=search-alias%3Ddigital-text&field-keywords=dare+you+to&sprefix=dare+you+to%2Caps%2C385

I don’t want to spoil the full review, but this book was truly amazing! I really enjoyed it, despite the heavy topics that swirled in and around it, the romance was so mushy and wonderful! Just loved it! So check out the review and if it spars your interest – grab it from Amazon! I know sometimes i see reviews or books mentioned and I mean to write it down – so i thought i’d put the links to Amazon there so if you want to check something out further, it’s one click away. I know I almost always forget if i don’t do it right then with everything else…life..going on!

Now lastly, my “rant” moment. This week it’s a good/bad thing. The bad thing is how frustrated I am with Netgalley, I cannot seem to get any of the books i want on NG – some book houses turn me down everytime, like Atria and I am wondering what I need to do to change this.. Now I have other places, like Simon and Schuster who approve almost everything I request, so I don’t understand why I don’t get at least some of the other reads.. It’s just frustrating – i’m doing the work, growing my following, posting my reviews and getting my site out there – can’t they at least give me a second chance, i feel like they are judging me on what my site was like months ago when I had like 4 followers, but that just isn’t the case now.. Ugh.. Now I feel better – do any of you have experience with this? I’ve heard Edelweiss can be tough but I’ve been given books pretty fairly there, I just never heard anyone say this stuff about Netgalley. Anyway – if you have a thought, I’d love to hear it!! It seem slike all of the books I am dying to get early are on there and just not having the luck!

On to the good thing, one of my favorite authors, Jessica Park, has opted to allow me to post an excerpt (for only my site and my readers – so a uniqute excerpt!!) around the publish date in July – whoo hoo! So I’m planning on putting it on that week along with my review for the book, “Left Drowning” so that’s something to look forward to, if you haven’t heard about it y et – check it out – I”ll post the GoodReads summary below and then I’ll list her current published books below that “Flat Out Matt” “Flat Out Love” and “relatively Famous” – all are GREAT reads! But how exciting for my own excerpt for only my readers! So put that on your calender, July 16th…

Left Drowning

GoodReads Summary:

What does it take to rise from life’s depths, swim against the current, and breathe?
Weighted down by the loss of her parents, Blythe McGuire struggles to keep her head above water as she trudges through her last year at Matthews College. Then a chance meeting sends Blythe crashing into something she doesn’t expect—an undeniable attraction to a dark-haired senior named Chris Shepherd, whose past may be even more complicated than her own. As their relationship deepens, Chris pulls Blythe out of the stupor she’s been in since the night a fire took half her family. She begins to heal, and even, haltingly, to love this guy who helps her find new paths to pleasure and self-discovery. But as Blythe moves into calmer waters, she realizes Chris is the one still strangled by his family’s traumatic history. As dark currents threaten to pull him under, Blythe may be the only person who can keep him from drowning.

Other Books by Jessica Park:

Flat-Out Love (Flat-Out Lov...Flat-Out Matt (Flat-Out Lov...Relatively Famous

Check them out!

Last, but not least – here’s a quote from my current read – hope you enjoy!

Quote 1: Picked this because it shows just how funny this book is!

Quote 2: I had to add this b/c I’m totally Team Edward but thought this was super funny! I of course remember the line in the book and movie and think it’s a great way to poke fun at it.. and pointed at the right age to get the sentiment.. haha

“Edward Cullen can take his stupid heroine and OD on it. Kate is my own personal brand of Viagra.”

Well that’s all folks! Happy Sunday!

Let me know what you’re reading, what you’re not reading, what you think of any of the above – what you think of Netgalley or Edelweiss – rant or rave, just talk to me! let me know you’re out there and reading this! I would love to know all of you better – maybe start some type of book club online where we can discuss this stuff more often and be reading the same book…oh my hopes.. Anyway, just talk to me – I want to know what you’re up to and what you think!
