Friday Night

So, I stumbled upon an amadzing find yesterday, “Flat Out Matt” and i stayed up super late and then finished it today – LOVED it and review to come. Such an exciting thing to come across this when I didn’t know to look for it, I didn’t realize how much I wanted to know more about this story!

Then, I chose “Relatively Famous” by the same author, I’m in love with her work. I can’t stay I favored this as much as I did the other two, but I still enjoyed it, hopefully I can get these 2 revews up this weekend. Also, planning on making this week one of my first times to participate in the Top Ten Tuesday on the Broke and The Booksih site, so check that out!

Hope everyone had a great night. I have 5 books on my MUST list right now, and countless more on my “to read” – I LOVE goodreads for this reason, you can surf and add all the books you want – so although I go back and forth with Kindle and Audible books, I always have my “to read” list all in one place..

Night Readers! More tomorrow, tune in for some new reviews, and let me know what you’re reading!

“Flat Out Love” by Jessica Park

Published: 9/11/12
Publisher: Amazon’s Children’s Publishing Services, Inc

The Story:
Julie arrives for her first semester in Boston – at her first apartment, only to realize that she was jipped – and unless she wants to live amidst a skanky restaurant her craigslist renter has pulled something very expensive over on her – and left her homeless! Then there is Matt, a tall guy with dirty blonde hair that hangs over his eyes – and who wore a t-shirt proclaiming Nietzsche is my homeboy..

Julie likes Matt, but then there is Finn – who she LOVES! This is a very complicated, very awkward situation, funny and romantic and lovely! Julie falls in love with not just Finn, but the entire family, especially Celeste – who steals her heart from day 1. But love is a twisty and bumpy, and no one survives unscathed completely. How will this all wind up? Can the bumps be overridden- or will it break all the characters?

What I thought:
This is one of my favoriate stories, EVER! Yes, I am yelling because i literally loved this story THAT much! I have never laughed or cried as much as I did while reading this book. I loved the story, I loved the characters, I loved the back drop scene – get it TODAY!!

The characters are all so real, and loveable. Julie is a strong, caring, and funny main character. She brings the famiy back together, they all endure some type of “growing” pains – but it’s the ending that matters. This was one fabulous, funny, and unforgettable journey! I had a feeling from the story’s begining about the possibility of part of this ending, but even that didn’t keep me from loving it all the more because of that – even what I thought may happen was handled so well – amazing!

Overall:
5 plus plus plus stars — again, BUY this NOW, this minute and read it ASAP! This is a book I will re-read so it’s a keeper. It’s so witty and wonderful, I just can’t say enough. These will be forever some of my favorite characters to revisit! And BEST of all, I just found out today – thank you Amazon that there was a novella written too – WHAT?? I already bought and you can bet this is being read starting..NOW. It’s Called “Flat Out Matt” and it came out 3/25/13. I can’t wait to review this too – so more to come!

Quotes I HAD to point out:
“Then she did what any girl would do, she googled him.”

“Mom, I have to go. I think this Matt character is here.”
“Are you sure it’s him?”
Julie peered into the car as the window lowered. “I see a manical-looking guy with brightly-colored candy in one hand, and he’s waving a sickle in the other. Oh! He’s beckoning me to the car. This must be my ride.”

“It was always you. I thought it was someone else, but it was you. You were the person I felt.”

“Normal people can become annoying if put in annoying situations.” This on behalf of Celeste – You can’t not love her!

“Julie swallowed. “Flat Finn is on Facebook?” She’d love to see those status updates. “Got strapped to the roof of the car today for a trip to Starbucks, would have loved to taste caramel mocha, but can’t move arms and so was forced to stare longingly at delicious hot beverage. Will the taunting ever end?”

“It’s not what you know-or when you see- that matters. It’s about the journey.”

Review of “Anna and the French Kiss” by Stephanie Perkins

Published: 12/2/2010
Publisher: Penguin Publishing

The Plot:
Anna is so excited about her senior year. She has a great best friend, a great job, and a great crush that could be more…and then WHAM- her Dad ships her off to Paris and a boarding school. She’s miserable, that is, until she meets Etienne St. Clair – the world’s most perfect boy!

The only problem – he’s taken. And she may be too, if her crush ends up working out..

The year is full of romantic near misses, but how will Anna and St. Clair’s story end up? How much will her life change while she experiences Paris and this new boarding school?

My thoughts:
Most importantly – how did I not know about this author/book before? She is amazing, and I loved the writing. Anna and St. Clair and their group of friends were all very real, believeable, and it was so easy to fall in love with each of them for their personal traits. I also loved all the emotions that churned around, it was fun reliving those “strong” live/die teenage emotions from my younger years. What I really loved about this story was the strong female lead, Anna – she was not some damsel in distress, she was strong and full of warmth. The story was also very believeable, this could really happen in real life – all of it, it wasn’t some far off tale that was too amazing to be real. These could be real people and a real story from some part of the world. I love “book” moments and when St. Clair admitted his love – I realized I was holding my breath right with her!

Overall:
5 stars and more if I could give it more! If you have not read it, get it today!

Quotes I loved:
*Here I am including a quote that shows the humor, a quote that shows the love, or maybe two of those, and something I think could apply to everyone’s real everyday life!

Funny Quote First – “I moan with pleasure. “Did you just have a foodgasm?” He asks wiping ricotta from his lips. “Where have you been all my life?” I ask the beautiful panini.”

Lovey quotes:
“I’m saying I’m in love with you! I’ve been in love with you this whole bleeding year!”

“For the two of us, home isn’t a place. It is a person. And we are finally home.”

The Julie quote that stuck out to me and made me love her character all the more:
“So what do I wish for? Something I’m not sure I want? Someone I’m not sure I need? Or someone I know I can’t have?”

Everyone, get reading and let me know what you think!

Happy Tuesday!

Happy Tuesday Readers! Another Tuesday is officially going by without me being part of the Top 10 Tuesday – I will aspire for next week!

I just finished “Flat Out Love” last week and CANNOT say enough good things about it! If you haven’t picked it up – read it today! The characters and story and..just laugh out loud moments! It’s one of my top pics going forward – definetly a favorite of books that have no sequels!

Unfortunately – I had an unlucky week last week, so I was forced to “relax” over the weekend with, “sigh”, no work on my blog. I am definetly planning to work more on getting more reviews posted this weekend, so keep looking, I promise they are coming!

Until then, good reading! I’m starting “Anna and the French Kiss” by Stephanie Perkins – what is everyone else reading??

Until next time!

Tuesday’s Gone…

Happy Tuesday Night Readers!

Another Tuesday has come and gone and I haven’t gotten to start my Top Ten Tuesday list as of yet… I have been reading like nuts though! Finished 2 books this weekend – both great and started 2 new ones. I should have at least 6 reviews to post here shortly. The newest book selection is called “Flat Out Love” – it’s by a new author and something cute and romantic and I believe would be Contemporary YA, but it’s great. It’s one of those books that makes you laugh out loud (I think LOL would be too quirky here)..

I read two “adult” books this weekend, so I was allowing myself this one “cutesy” romantic book – but I’m loving it. It has great backbone and characters. This is officially the first time I’m afraid to read over reviews or posts on the internet about it – I have a feeling I might have an “idea” of the ending, but I’m afraid to know for sure and for the very first time I don’t want to know the ending before I get there. This is a huge first for me, even in my “Twilight” haze I skipped to the end before I could actually read through the middle – so I am pretty sure that it will make it on to some of my Top Ten Tuesday lists.

I feel like I’ve hit a mega find of good books lately, I’ve hit the good books lotto – so I’m continuing onward. Reviews to follow and look forward to my “official” Top Ten Tuesday blog next week!

Kelley
