Top Ten Tuesday – Top Ten Books I’d Like to see as a Movie or TV Show

Hosted by The Broke and the Bookish @ http://brokeandbookish.blogspot.com/2013/09/top-ten-books-wed-love-to-see-as-movie.html

This week’s topic is……

Top Ten Books We’d Love To See As A Movie Or TV Show

Now, I feel like we did something like this before, but that was a list of things already out that we loved as adaptations, so this wish list is awesome! These books are ones I can remember reading and thinking…WOW this would be so amazing on a big screen or even as a TV show – so here we go and I hope you enjoy:

Lola and the Boy Next Door (Anna and the French Kiss, #2)My #1 is “Lola and the Boy Next Door” by Stephanie Perkins

I really love the romance in this book, and the characters – they are all colorful and full of..quirk. I think it would make an amazing movie, and you would also get to see more of Anne and St. Claire which can never be a bad thing, right? Considering – I would totally want a movie about them too (don’t be surprised to see that below).

Flat-Out Love (Flat-Out Love, #1)My #2 is “Flat Out Love” by Jessica Park

This book truly owns a piece of my heart – Matt & Julie.. What can I say? The book is so real with so much emotion, I could totally picture it as a movie in my head the whole time, so if this came to film – not only would I be at the midnight showing, but I might see it every day after for a week — my only request is that I can choose Matt!

Beautiful Disaster (Beautiful, #1) #3 is “Beautiful Disaster” by Jamie McGuire

Wait for You (Wait for You, #1) My #4 is “Wait For You” by J. Lynn

Awaken (Awaken, #1) My #5 is “Awaken” By Katie Kacvinsky

This is a dystropian book, but not one that has been well publicized – although one of my absolute favorites. It’s also something I can see as being much more realistic compared to some of the others out there – the basis of this that changes society is school violence even now we are seeing. I also just really enjoyed the writing and the story. There is a second novel already, which was amazing – would love to see this go somewhere – Movie, or maybe even TV.

Louder Than Love My #6 Choice is “Louder Than Love” by Jessica Topper

I just read this, so it is fresh on my mind, but even while I was reading it, again, I thought – WOW this would be such a great movie! Totally romantic with a hot edge, and not so hot it would need to be NC-17 or anything. So i’m tossing in something different here with an “adult” movie based book. If you haven’t read it yet, check it out – it will be out on shevles September 17th and I highly reccommend it! It’s hot and romantic and will draw you in from the first page. Would be amazing on the big screen if cast correctly (just in case anyone is wondering – I’d be totally available for this job!)

If I Stay (If I Stay, #1)Where She Went (If I Stay, #2) My # 7 (choice) is “If I Stay” and “Where She Went” by Gayle Forman

This is “technically” two books, but one story and I would think that a movie would have to encapsulate both to be amazing – so I feel secure in having it as one choice for a movie – because it would be just one movie. These books combined would be an amazing story! I think it would allow enough of the grief and sadness in without that taking over and then show where the next book starts – and go from there. Just thinking of these books now – I can see it in my head – It would be amazing!

Under the Never Sky (Under the Never Sky, #1) My #8 is “Under the Never Sky” by Veronica Rossi

Delirium (Delirium, #1) My # 9 is “Delirium” by Lauren Oliver

This is another series I adore! Adore, adore, and love! In case you were wondering, I’m Team Alex – all the way! I think a movie would also give a great chance to show a different side to the ending of the 3rd book. Oliver gave enough action through these pages to easily fill 3 movies, and I know the fans would stand behind her on this – just something else to add to my wish list!

How to Love My last and #10 Choice is “How to Love” by Katie Cotugno

When I was thinking about this topic yesterday, this came flashing to my  mind. I really loved the story and the reality of the situation the characters were facing. I loved that they were all flawed and real, and there was no fairytale ending, just happiness that they created – and the love they learned to have. Also, another story I could totally see on a movie screen while I read, there is enough there to support a full movie and not have any dull moments – that is for sure. And enough emotion and drama to make it great – Highly reccommend reading it, just in case you know.. Maybe this will happen?

————-

Well there you have it guys – My Top Ten choices for things I’d love to see on the big screen or on TV. I’m ready to hear yours and see what you thought of – so share your link with me or just chime in with a response of something you’re thinking if you don’t have a blog – love hearing from you!

I do have some honorable mentions though – books I think would be great but are either too complicated or I’m just now how sure it would work…

Honorable Mentions:

“Slammed” series by Colleen Hoover

I love this series, but just not sure how it could translate to the big screen and if one movie could cover it all – plus this is a book I’d love to see more of, but something I really enjoyed just living in my own head

“Anna and the French Kiss”

Now – don’t get me wrong at all – I LOVE this book and love the characters, but when it came time to choose, I wanted to pick one and for whatever reason – “Lole and the Boy Next Door” is my absolute favorite, so I had to make the call. If this did come to movie, I’d be there in a second – it just would have pushed my list over 10 –

——

Well there now you really have it – My completed list

Share your thoughts and keep reading!

Happy Reading and Happy Tuesday!

Top Ten Tuesday – Top Ten Required Reading Books for Hopeless Romantics!

Hosted by The Broke and The Bookish @ http://brokeandbookish.blogspot.com/2013/09/top-ten-books-youd-pair-with-required.html

Happy Tuesday – This week’s Top Ten Tuesday is based around required reading material – I saw some others putting their own spin on it, so here’s mine —

Top Ten Required Books for Hopless Romantics

The Notebook“The Notebook” by Nicholas Sparks

*This book is class romance at it’s best – one of my favorite books of all times and is always an awesome read – or awesome to watch the movie. Even my husband likes this one (even though he may never admit it) and puts up with me watching it over and over again – so this is a definite #1 choice~

Twilight (Twilight, #1)“Twilight” By Stephanie Meyer

*Team Edward – need i say more? There are more swoon worthy moments in this series than I even care to count — they even wait until their wedding to “consumate” the marriage — Edward and Bella are just… Swoonworthy! And who else fights more for their love?? Awww..the sweetness of it all!

Under the Never Sky (Under the Never Sky, #1)“Under the Never Sky” by Veronica Rossi

*I love this story – Aria and Perry are so sweet and I love that they are both on the same page, fighting together for what they want. Perry is so protective and I really like that they started out not liking each other at all, but grew to “swoon here” love each other! Great series for those of the hopeless romantic type!

Delirium (Delirium, #1)“Delirium” by Lauren Oliver

*I am 100% Team Alex and in the end when he sacrifices himself for Lena – WOW – what could be mroe romantic? I was thinking about that for days after the end of this story…

Wait for You (Wait for You, #1)“Wait for You” by J. Lynn

* My only question to myself is why did I WAIT so long to read this book?? Sawyer is hot and swoonworthy on a serious level! The care and concern he shows Avery from day one is…sweet in an unimaginable way.. Loved this book!

Rule (Marked Men, #1)“Rule” by Jay Crownover

*Ok so this isn’t the typical romance, but it shows how love can even break down the tattoed bad boy, and I like that – the characters are great and the storyline is different. A must read for those who love the bad boy and the sweet love story!

Beautiful Disaster (Beautiful, #1)“Beautiful Disaster” By Jamie McGuire

*Ok Travis is HOT and SWOONWORTHY in a big way. Abby and Travis together are so sweet. This is one of my go-to re-reads when I need a pick me up, or need a good “feel good” read. One of my favorite books of all time, anyone who claims they are a romantic, MUST READ!

Slammed (Slammed, #1)“Slammed” series by Colleen Hoover

*I’m cheating a tad bit here because I need all 3 books for this series to be “hopeless romantic territory” – you can’t leave out part of the story, but all the poetry and things that Lake and Will overcome, amazing and the words they write to each other are… So sweet! Must read!

Lola and the Boy Next Door (Anna and the French Kiss, #2)“Lola and the Boy Next Door” by Stephanie Perkins

*I love this book because it’s a real tale of first loves and things not being perfect, plus Stephanie Perkins is an amazing writer! Cricket and Lola = Love!

Flat-Out Love (Flat-Out Love, #1)“Flat Out Love” by Jessica Park

* This book is one of my all time favorites – a must read for romantics in the hopeless variety! It’s quirky, fun, and a great read. It has real moments that are tear jerking and then those that make you want to swoon big time! It also has humor – which is a huge plus in some of the situations they face in the story. Matt and Julie and Finn – one of my favorite love triangles in a totally dysfunctional way.

——-

Well Folks, that’s it for me today – Happy Tuesday!

Let me hear what you think? Did I miss something? Have you read these and what did you think? What is your Top Ten Tuesday list? If you don’t have a blog, just comment below —

Happy Reading!

Neurotic Booky “Quirks”

I don’t know if you all have “weird” booky habits, but I do.. It all started with “Twilight” back in… well when it came out and I thought maybe it was something that was derrived from my pure love of the story – i could read it over and over (literally) without interruption.. Don’t judge..I know it’s kind of weird – I’m admitting it…

But I was wrong, it’s not just “Twilight” that brings this weird… neurosis out – so this past week while I was sick, I kind of went into a memory lane of my favorite books over the past few months — I have re-read all of the following – or at least my favorite parts in the past week. I know it may sound strange, but I swear it’s somewhat soothing.. Anyway – here’s my list of “binge” reading right now — Have you guys re-read these? What do you think??

Left Drowning“Left Drowning” By Jessica Park

Flat-Out Love (Flat-Out Love, #1)“Flat Out Love” Jessica Park

Flat-Out Matt (Flat-Out Love, #1.5)“Flat Out Matt” by Jessica Park

*Yes, I can admit – I’m a huge Jessica Park fan – these 3 books are absolute re-read material and always make me laugh and cry all at the same time – if you  have not read these yet, do it NOW! She is amazing!

Beautiful Disaster (Beautiful, #1)“Beautiful Disaster” by Jamie McGuire

Walking Disaster (Beautiful, #2)“Walking Disaster” by Jamie McGuire

*Again – yes.. I LOVE Jamie McGuire — this series is a re-read again and again.,. amazing! Travis – oh Travis.. Do any of you share this hot book boyfriend with me?

So there you have it – a total book confession…

Confess with me, it’s fun! Come on… It’s not like you will see us at the Mall tomorrow – here in book blog world, reading is cool right?? And who doesn’t love a book boyfriend..especially a hot, tattooed one.. Yum!

All right guys, before I embarass myself further – I’ll stop here.

TGIF!

Happy Reading–

Top Ten Tuesday – July 16th

Hosted by The Broke and the Bookish @ http://brokeandbookish.blogspot.com/2013/07/top-ten-tuesday-top-ten-authors-who.html

This week’s topic is Top Ten Authors Who Deserve More Recognition

——–

I was super excited to do this week’s Top Ten. I forget how lucky we are in the blogging world to get to read all the new and upcoming authors and I feel so lucky to read some of these books first and to get the word out how amazing they are! So here’s my list! Excited to see everyone else’s too – post yours in the comment if you don’t blog or give me a link – excited to maybe find some new authors I’d like to check out!

top ten tuesday july 16

So i’m trying something a little new there with the artwork thing – not totally sure it’s clear but i’ll list below too and tell you WHY they are super awesome!

1. Kasie West: I just read “The Distance Between Us” not too long ago and LOVED the book – what a perfect summer read and I thought her writing was great, excited to see new things coming from her!

2. Veronica Rossi: I loved the “Under the Never Sky” books so far and am SUPER excited to see the new book coming out next year – the ending of the second book was probably one of the best middle book endings EVER!

3. Leah Rae Miller: I read “The Summer I Became a Nerd” earlier this year and really enjoyed it. Her writing is funny and yet not corny. Hope we see something from her again too soon!

4. Emma Chase: Now this is absolutely an up and coming author! If you have’t heard me rave about “Tangled” yet — check out my review. OMG. Her writing is hilarious and down to earth and I loved the male POV throughout the story — I just could not stop laughing, but at the same time it was a great storyline and well written. You have to check her out if you have not yet!

5. J. Kenner: This is the author of the Stark series which includes “Claim Me”, “Release Me”, and “Complete Me” – and i hope a 4th book soon. These came out after the 50 shades and the Sylvia Day series but I just really liked this writing more than either of the other two to be honest – so check it out!

6. Jessica Park: WOW – that is all I can say.. She has a book coming out today actually, “Left Drowning” – a MUST read and I was lucky enough to read before hand, check out my review here and a special first chapter exerpt! She is also the author of “Flat Out Love” and “Flat Out Matt” and is maybe my favorite author right now – her writing is funny and real at the same time with characters you just want to fall in love with. Let’s just say that with all 3 books I was hooked in the first few pages!

7. Alice Clayton: She wrote “Wallbanger” and I really enjoyed this. It’s a new series I think – so we should see more here and I am looking forward to it, I liked that here you saw the male POV and the female POV at the same time.

8. Jamie McGuire: “Beautiful Disaster” and “Walking Disaster” are books I could read over and over, and have done so. Her new books are due out this fall and I absolutely cannot wait! I know she probably gets more publicity than some of the others on here, but I still think she deserves more – her writing and characters are amazing!

9. Jennifer Probst: Now this author isn’t brand new, but i still don’t think she gets all the raving she deserves. I’m reading her “Millionaire” series which the newest book “Marriage Merger” is out in August – when I read her first book I was listening on audio and I was in my mall parking lot – cannot forget this – I was laughing so hard in the car alone, I was getting strange looks. these books are romantic and hot and fun – with great characters (which will get me eveyrtime!). I also enjoy seeing the male and female POV here concurrently as the story goes on.

10. Suzanne Young: If you have not read “The Program” yet, then you may live under a rock, get out and read it NOW! I was honestly not sure about this book, it’s probably one of the first more well known titles i got an ARC for – and I could not put it down, and cannot wait for book 2. There is a teaser first chapter up now and it only shows how absolutely amazing this is going to be – check it out!

I have a few other authors I want to mention – outside of my top ten who are just as amazing I couldn’t let it go without them being included:

1. Maya Banks – She has the Rush series and I highly reccommend it

2. Jay Crownover – I’m just discovering the Market Men series with hot bad boys, and reading “Rule” right now – again liking the male and female POV but enjoying the writing too – the characters are flawed and real and great.. It’s TBD how I will like the book, but from the start I think I’d check a second book out for sure!

3. Katie Kacvinsky – She wrote “Awaken” and “Middle Ground” in the middle of this huge dystropian age we have going on and I loved her stories more than most of the others that made huge waves, so I’m trying to get her name out there – she took something everyone else was doing and made it different – she also writes contemporary romances – one of them being “Second Chance” so I would absolutely reccommend checking her out!

Well that’s all kids – for today anyway! Don’t forget that Jessica Park’s new book “Left Drowning” comes out today – check out the first chapter preview and book review on my blog and get this today – a great read!!

Musing Monday – July 1st

MusingMondays5Hosted by Should Be Reading @ http://shouldbereading.wordpress.com/2013/07/01/musing-mondays-july-1/

Musing Mondays asks you to muse about one of the following each week…

• Describe one of your reading habits. • Tell us what book(s) you recently bought for yourself or someone else, and why you chose that/those book(s). • What book are you currently desperate to get your hands on? Tell us about it! • Tell us what you’re reading right now — what you think of it, so far; why you chose it; what you are (or, aren’t) enjoying it. • Do you have a bookish rant? Something about books or reading (or the industry) that gets your ire up? Share it with us! • Instead of the above questions, maybe you just want to ramble on about something else pertaining to books — let’s hear it, then!

————-

This week my muse is about a book I bought recently. Since I don’t actually buy a lot of books with my review TBR list growing daily – it takes something special for me to see something and have to get it immediately! This book is one of those scenerios..

Last week I was participating in an online tournament between hot guys in fiction of 2013, and the competetion was between Matt from “Flat Out Love” and this guy – from “Rule” – and after reading all the fan girls spewing love about him, I had to check it out. The reviews were so good for the book and the guy seemed so hot in a “bad boy” type of way that I suddenly HAD to have it – so here it is.. I’m reading something else now, but this is my next read after that. Best news of all is if I like this one, there is a second book in the series out already – The Marked Men Series. Here’s the book below:

By Jay Crownover

So – check it out today. If you’re looking for a Travis Maddox type character…or..Jace from the Mortal Instruments series – basically a bad guy who falls hard I think this is the book for you, but don’t take my word yet — Once I read it I’ll be happy to provide my honest opinion as always!

Happy Monday!

Thursday Book Talk – All the Buzz on Books June 27th

Happy Thursday Everyone and welcome to my first official “me only” meme Thursday Book Talk! This meme is dedicated to talking about anything you want, book news, where you’re at in a book, what you want to read next, any rants you have – really anything you want to put out there

This week I actually have a few things to talk about, one exciting and one kind of sad – but a wake up call to me for sure!

The first thing is the awesome new book I’m reading – “The Distance Between Us” by Kasie West.  I am really loving it!

The Distance Between Us

I actually got it through a Book Blog Tour – my very first one – So I know this book will hold some sentimental value to me always b/c of that (cheesy I know!).  Anyway, I forgot I even applied until I saw the email saying a book was headed to me – of course I dropped by next in line book because you get 7 days to read and review (wow -this is a short time frame – I was suprised – but hey I’m a go with the flow girl – so I’ll make it work!). Ok I am rambling…so now on to the real topic – the book..  I really like it so far. It was described as “Pretty in Pink” meeting “Pride and Prejudice” and a twist of being the perfect summer book – and I am absolutely not dissappointed! I’ve never read anything by Kasie West before – I know others have read and I’ve seen reviews for “Pivot Point” and now I want to check that out too! Anyway – so my full review of this swoon worthy love story -which I have a feeling I haven’t gotten to the heart stomp part yet — you know what I mean right? Well anyway, I’m hoping for once there isn’t a soul crushing moment, but who knows…  If there is one I am going to count on Caymen’s awesome personality to get me through. I don’t like a lot of humor for whatever reason but her dry sacrasm cracks me up!! I really adore her -and for that matter hot Xander (this name reminds me of the same character in Matched – if you read that you will know).I was going to add a quote but realized I didn’t have any — the book isn’t even out yet, but don’t worry I will have one for the full review! There are too many in this book to miss that chance, plus you know I love a good quote!

Now – second point. I saw the saddest thing on Twitter yesterday. Apparnently someone took parts of Jamie McGuire’s book “Beautiful Disaster” and part of Tamara Webber’s book “Easy” – combined them and made a new story that’s been top ten on Amazon since June 21st. I was like..really?? Then, WOW — Shocking. Who could do that, and the worst part is it was not just small parts but entire paragraphs and sections with maybe 1 sentence added in between. I cannot believe somoene would do that – of course there are loyal fans out there who may see and point it out. I hadn’t read it yet, but it was on my TBR and I had a “mild” case of infatuation over “Beautiful Disaster” so I would have 100% recognized that content — I just thought it was crazy, had to mention it because you never really know what is going to happen next and that proves it.

Well readers, that’s all for today, Happy Thursday! Super excited about tomorrow being Friday and next week being a short week thanks to the holiday —

Love to hear about some Book Buzz you know, what you’re reading, or whatever else – comment below!

Top Ten Tuesday – hosted by The Broke and the Bookish

Hosted by The Broke and the Bookish – http://brokeandbookish.blogspot.com/p/top-ten-tuesday-other-features.html

This week’s Top Ten Tuesday if featuring the Top Ten Favorite Covers of Books You’ve Read —

This was actually a fairly hard one b/c I read most books via Kindle or listen on Audible – so I don’t look at the covers a lot. I do see them, however on Goodreads or via Amazon — So here we go:

1. Pushing The Limits by Katie McGarry — Why? I love the scene on the front – it reminds me of highschool and kissing in between classes..

Pushing the Limits (Pushing the Limits, #1)

2. Breaking Dawn by Stephanie Meyer — The Chess Piece at the cover of this really makes me think of the book and how all the pieces fit together in this last book. of course it’s one of my top ten all time favorite series – so maybe a little prejudice – but still love it – one of my favorite scenes from Breaking Dawn Part 1 is Edward and Bella playing chess. So sweet!

Breaking Dawn (Twilight, #4)

3. Flat Out Love by Jessica Park — Other than the fact I absolutely LOVE this book – I really liked the cover. I was looking around on amazon one day and I saw the cover and that is what initially drew me to the book – so to me that’s a great cover! If you’ve read the book you will know why I love the hinges too!

Flat-Out Love (Flat-Out Love, #1)

4. Where She Went by Gayle Forman– I like this cover b/c of the girl on the front – her facial expression just feels right. And it’s dark which is aligned with the darkness in the book.

Where She Went (If I Stay, #2)

5. If You Stay by Courtney Cole — The book is another one I saw while just searching through Amazon and the cover sold it. It also gave me something to think of when thinking of the characters..

If You Stay (Beautifully Broken, #1)

6. The Program by Suzanne Young — This cover I really liked from the moment I saw it. The two people standing in yellow suits with the medical white blinding background in front of them – it felt cold and uncaring – and that was the tone of the “program” – it set the feeling of the book very well.

The Program (The Program, #1)

7. The Selection by Kiera Cass — I loved the dress America was wearing in this cover.   It was so beautiful.  It really stuck out to me when I first saw it. I love all the views in the mirror too – the dress looked full and fluffy and very beautiful.

The Selection (The Selection, #1)

8. Walking Disaster by Jamie McGuire — I really, really thought this book cover was perfect for the story because it was from Travis’s point of view and it showed his hunky arm with a beautiful tattoo – of a butterfly which is something in nature that can be reborn from a caterpillar to the butterfly. Great symbolism.

Walking Disaster (Beautiful, #2)

9. Beautiful Disaster by Jamie McGuire — The butterfly trapped in this jar caught my eye – another book I bought for the simple fact I loved the cover when I had yet to hear really anything about the book.

Beautiful Disaster (Beautiful, #1)

10. Beautiful Bastard by Christina Lauren — I didn’t see this cover until after I read the book – and when I saw it – it fit the book perfectly. I loved the 2 sided nature of the person, just like the guy in the book. It is simple and great.

Beautiful Bastard (Beautiful Bastard, #1)

Hope you enjoyed the list! Happy Tuesday everyone!
