Monday Musing – August 26th

MusingMondays5Hosted by Should Be Reading @ http://shouldbereading.wordpress.com/

Musing Mondays asks you to muse about one of the following each week…

• Describe one of your reading habits. • Tell us what book(s) you recently bought for yourself or someone else, and why you chose that/those book(s). • What book are you currently desperate to get your hands on? Tell us about it! • Tell us what you’re reading right now — what you think of it, so far; why you chose it; what you are (or, aren’t) enjoying it. • Do you have a bookish rant? Something about books or reading (or the industry) that gets your ire up? Share it with us! • Instead of the above questions, maybe you just want to ramble on about something else pertaining to books — let’s hear it, then!

Happy Monday Everyone!

I’m not sure what to muse about today to be honest – so I’m just going to “vent” a little – speak up if you can understand where I’m coming from…

Blogging was something I started for fun and to get books early so I could review and get the word out to everyone else – it also helps support my book habit..

I have been on a whiz lately – Reading like a crazy woman, but now I have the question – how do I get all of these books reviewed? I read 5 books within the past week (It was a crazy reading week – not normal) but now I’m faced trying to get these things reviewed and to be fair to everyone that allowed me to read early in exhcange for these reviews.. Hmm… Plus I do have a full time job – which pays my bills so kidn of have to respect that.

Anyway, having too many books to read, reading too many great books is never something I complain about but the busier the blog becomes it’s hard to sometimes manage my time – what do you think? Do you set aside days just for reviews, review right after you read something? How do you make it work – always open for advise!!

Happy Monday!

Top Ten Tuesday June 10th – Top Ten Beach Reads!

Hosted by The Broke and the Bookish @ http://brokeandbookish.blogspot.com/p/top-ten-tuesday-other-features.html

Top Ten Tuesday is an original feature/weekly meme created here at The Broke and the Bookish. This feature was created because we are particularly fond of lists here at The Broke and the Bookish. We’d love to share our lists with other bookish folks and would LOVE to see your top ten lists!

Each week we will post a new Top Ten list  that one of our bloggers here at The Broke and the Bookish will answer. Everyone is welcome to join. All we ask is that you link back to The Broke and the Bookish on your own Top Ten Tuesday post AND add your name to the Linky widget so that everyone can check out other bloggers lists! If you don’t have a blog, just post your answers as a comment. Have fun with it! It’s a fun way to get to know your fellow bloggers!
This Week’s Topic: Top 10 Beach Reads:
1. The Summer I Became A Nerd by Leah Rae Miller
The Summer I Became a NerdLight and fun read, but loved the characters – perfect stand alone book for any day by the beach!
2. The Marriage Bargain by Jennifer Probst
The Marriage Bargain (Marri... This book is hot and steamy, which makes a great beach read-plus it will make you laugh untily our stomach hurts, and the great writing doesn’t  hurt at all – def one to check out!
3. Anna and the French Kiss by Stephanie Perkins
Anna and the French KissWhat is not more summer than a boy and girl falling in love in Paris? Top that off with the characters Anna and the Oh So Charming St. Clair and it’s a winner – you won’t want to put it down, so grab your beach chair, put on your SPF and get ready to read!
4. Lola and the Boy Next Door by Stephanie Perkins
Lola and the Boy Next Door ...I couldn’t include the first without the second – if you are a fan of Stephanie Perkins, you know one cannot go without the other. This portrays the story of a dreamy boy next door – who ends up giving the girl of his dreams the stars – “swoon”!! Again, get comfortable, it’s a one sit reader so SPF up, grab that chair, and enjoy!
5. Summer Days by Susan Mallery
Summer Days (Fool's Gold, #7)I spent a great deal of my summer in this sleep town called Fool’s Gold last year and getting to know these characters and I cannot reccommend them enough. While any book can be stand alone, with wonderful writing and romance, the bigger picture is the best – you become invested in their little community – warning here: it can be addictive – you can become the nosy neighbor via print. So tread with caution, but enjoy!
6. Beautiful Bastard by Christina Lauren
Beautiful Bastard (Beautifu... This book is a hot, one day read when you need it, nothing but fun and utter hotness! Every girl needs at least one of these each year – so relax and enjoy!!
7. The Lucky One by Nicholas Sparks
The Lucky OneTrue to my form, I had to add one of my favorite summer reads – any Nicholas Sparks. For some reason this has been on my mind, so i went with it – the vibe is sort of summer and unlike some of the books it doesn’t end in total tragedy – so if you haven’t experienced his writing yet, check it out today!
8. Awaken by Katie Kacvinsky
Awaken (Awaken, #1)i’ve included a lot of fluff so here’s something with some thought. I read this book about 2 years ago before Dystropian really hit the market and LOVED it, so if you want ot know what’s hot in Teen lit these days, take a walk on the wild side and i promise you’ll love it – the characters and the writing are great and the story isn’t too keep. Best part of all, if you get really invested there are more books to come!
9. Divergent by Veronica Roth
Divergent (Divergent, #1)Same with this story – it’s a great meaning, but not too deep and has some great meat to the story, plus some hot love stuff – I think the femaales are tough and I like that and Four is just..hot. The movie is coming out next year, so be prepared, check it out – see what all the hype is about! You won’t be sorry!
10. City Of Bones by Cassandra Claire
City of Bones (The Mortal I...Besides being an AMAZING book, it’s the great start to an even better series. And it’s coming to theaters in August, so see what the hype is about so you can properly swoon for the lead guy when he hits the scene – Clary and Jace – endless love – Edward and Bella on another level plus some really cool action where Clary actaul gets to fight other than in the lat book – it got an A plus from me – so check it out and let me know what you think.
So why did I chose these books? In one way or another, they all let you escape reality in some way. My favorite beach books are the type that let you immerse yourself in these beautiful worlds and just relax and forget all the tough stuff you’re going through for just a little bit – lay in the sun and read and forget the world outside of that.
Do you have any suggestions? If so – let me know – any thoughts on mine, speak your mind! I want to hear from you!!
If you have a blog, please participate, if you don’t just write your answers below- anyone can be part of the fun!
So until next Tuesday – get reading and talking! See you back next Tuesday same time!

Happy Saturday Night Everyone!

I havne’t finished a book yet, but I am working on some good ones, so I thought I’d do a post “in reading” just to see what everyone else is reading.

Right now I’m reading “Pushing The Limits” and “the Under The Never Sky Novella about Roar and Liv.”

Pushing the Limits (Pushing the Limits, #1)Roar and Liv (Under the Never Sky, #0.5)

I’m hoping I can finish these. And tonight I actually took some time to do something – not sure if all of you do this, but to organize the list of what i want to read next/when. Between Negallery/Edelweiss and the normal books being published my list is getting piled up fast – Wow i idn’t relaize how wuickly this stuff can come up so i’m “trying” to organize this stuff tonight and get an idea of what next when.

I also took a good hard look at my blog, and some things I might want to change.  First of all I have realized to my utter disbbelif that I have not published my review for the second Under the Never Sky, for Forever Black, for Beautiful and Walking Disaster – not to mention I would love to review the Dilerium series.. So at least I have some content to work on until I can get my next set of books read. Anyway, so where I am on a Satruday night truding away on this, so you can def take away that I love doing this.. Its my relief from my everyday stuff.

One other comment before I’m off of here for today. Another blogger I really like posted something today about friendships and how h ard they are to cultivate and keep and I agree with her 100%, so either I just had some bad luck or i’m not meant to have that clsoe connection.. I don’t think i’m not menat to have it because I love people and I strive for communication – but what can I do to change this? I was also thinking that maybe me coming on here wsas a way to find friends who had more in common with me, so we could share our love of books and maybe even more – so who knows. Does anyone else knwo what I mean? I would love to develop a clsoe knit circle of fellow bloggers where we could keep up via blog, emial, maybe text message.. and maybe have some type of book group, I just could see it growing more maybe?? I can always hope anyway..

Well everyone, have a great Satruday and Pre-Mother’s day night – look for some reviews to be posted tomorrow!

Night  Ya’ll – thought I would leave you with a post from one of the books i’m reading!

“If you’re scared, tell me.  If you need to cry and scream, then do it.  And you sure as hell don’t walk away from us because you think it would be better for me.  Here’s the reality, Echo: I want to be by your side.  If you want to go to the mall stark naked so you can show the world your scars, then let me hold your hand.  If you want to see your mom, then tell me that too.  I may not always understand, but damn, baby, I’ll try.” From Pushing the Limits – can you say “swoon”?

Happy Wednesday! Some advice for new bloggers..

Happy Wednesday! I had a great conversation with a fellow blogger today and she was super supportive And gave some great tips for building a following to your blog and I thought I would share.

Now the past two months, I’ve posted, posted, read, and reviewed, and waited patiently for the traffic to come.. Well it’s a bit slower than expected so here are two things she reccommebded that seem obvious now but were not so at the time..
1. Get a Twitter account now so I can talk with my fellow bloggers in real time and follow my favorite authors too.. I am a twitter newbie so here I go!
2. Get out there and post on other blogs, comment, chat and rave about books.. Build a network of other bloggers you converse with regularly.. In retrospect I feel like DUH. Is that not he point of me creating this blog? To chat with others like me and swoon over books with people who love them as I do.. Well yes it is, so how I missed this most basic step is beyond me, but thank you to my new fellow blogger friend! I will do it!

Not sure if this was helpful for anyone out there, but thanks for stopping by either way! If you are new to blogging or just looking for someone to add to your blog network, I’m open and excited to meet new bloggers!

Have a great Wednesday night everyone!
