Monday Musing – July 29th

MusingMondays5Hosted by Should Be Reading @ http://shouldbereading.wordpress.com/2013/07/29/musing-mondays-july-29/

Musing Mondays asks you to muse about one of the following each week…

• Describe one of your reading habits. • Tell us what book(s) you recently bought for yourself or someone else, and why you chose that/those book(s). • What book are you currently desperate to get your hands on? Tell us about it! • Tell us what you’re reading right now — what you think of it, so far; why you chose it; what you are (or, aren’t) enjoying it. • Do you have a bookish rant? Something about books or reading (or the industry) that gets your ire up? Share it with us! • Instead of the above questions, maybe you just want to ramble on about something else pertaining to books — let’s hear it, then

———

I was thinking all morning what I would muse about today — and I”m coming up empty handed… So I think I will gush about the new Book Tour site i’m starting to participate in and how awesome it is! I’m not sure if you all are familiar with Around the World ARC Tours – but if you have a blog and keep it updated with new content you can sign up to read/review books you mail from one reader to the next. This has given me a chance to get a lot of the larger name books that I could not have gotten myself probaby – so it’s super exciting. I didn’t realize how much I missed actually holding and having a paperback book – so many of mine are Ebooks that I get from Netgalley/etc and while that is super convenient and I love it, holding the actual book is nice too – just the smell of books, I know that sounds nuts..but it reminds me of why i love reading so much.

I’m on my 4th book right now and I have about 4 more on the way at this point and just really enjoying it. The site is run super well – you get the book, have 1 week to read and 1 to review, so you arn’t crunched for time – but it keeps you on target too and the schedule moving. I think it’s just a great opportunity, especially for those of us who are newer to blogging and don’t get ARC’s from the publishers themselves.. If you want to participate to check it out I’ll post the link below —

Anyway from the 4 books I’ve received so far – 3 have been great and 1 was a will not review (subject was NOT what I thought it would be at all).. You get 5 chances to not review a book each year and it resets in October I think..

Anyway – instead of book gushing today, I thought I’d gush about this and the amazing opportunity it is for anyone who wants to check it out!

Happy Monday!

Here’s the link: http://aroundtheworldarctours.wordpress.com/

Check it out – you never know –and if you get a lot of review ARC’s in paperback and want to share – we would love it and it’s very easy to do that too!!

Happy Sunday Everyone! And welcome to the Sunday Salon —

This week I thought I would discuss my current reading habits – well they have been terrible, no other way to say it. I just got a new job at work, which of course means more of the work to do so I can “pull my weight” — so I’ve left myself with very little time to read/review/etc.. I have been “trying” to keep up with posting and letting you guys know what I’m up to and reading – but I have NEVER taken so long to read a book. I think I’m going on 2 weeks with my current book and not done still!! The sad thing is I really, really love the book and the writer – it’s just – i can’t find the time to finish it..

Yesterday, in lieu of all of this – I took some time yesterday to prioritize my TBR list and make some  new goals for the blog and try and get caught up on reviews. I made some awesome headway and really feel like I’m over my hump and can get back to what I love most – reading! I also got 2 reviews done –wow! So now i’m pumped up and excited to get this going again —

Share– have any of you gone through a “slump” with reading and blogging? Had trouble making the time to actually do the reading between work, the reviews, and keeping up the blog itself? Happy to take any advice on how to manage everything – I think I got into blogging before I fully understood the time requirements, and while I don’t regret it for one second, I just need to find a way to better balance. The one thing I have discovered is the publish later feature on WordPress -so when I have time, like yesterday, I can write a few things and set them up to post, I don’t even have to remember to go back and post them – how awesome is that?? If I can do this each weekend, then through the week is enjoy other people’s blogs, comment, read, and post my stuff to Twitter and Facebook and other MiMi sites – haven’t found a way to “pre post” that stuff yet..

Anyway, I had a great and productive weekend and just wanted to gush a little bit over the “little” learning I had this weekend from WordPress and the cool new things I could do, plus my “epiphany” of how to manage things, at least for right now..

Hope you guys had a great Sunday and will have an Awesome Monday!
