Thursday Book Talk June 6th

Happy Thursday! Welcome to my new Meme Thursday Book Talk – still working on my image above – so if you have any suggestions, love to hear it!

This has been a super long week, so I’m going to make this short and sweet and I hope a lot of you will chime in with a link to your Thursday Book Talk or just comment in the links below – so here’s how it goes.

Thursday book talk to me is like a pre-review short preview to whatever your’re reading right now – or you can share a book rant – really whatever makes you happy and you have on your mind, kind of like a freebie day!

Today I’m doing to discuss the book I just started today “Dare You Too” by Katie McGarry

Dare You To (Pushing the Limits, #2)

I’m very newly into the book – probably on chapter 4, but as usual I’m really loving it. To be honest I hadn’t planned on this being my next read, Slammed was my next choice and then I saw this and couldn’t resist – I even bought it at full price, so you know that shows how much I really wanted to read it, so here I am.

Here’s  a short summary from Goodreads for anyone who isn’t sure what it’s about:

Ryan lowers his lips to my ear. “Dance with me, Beth.”

“No.” I whisper the reply. I hate him and I hate myself for wanting him to touch me again….

“I dare you…”

If anyone knew the truth about Beth Risk’s home life, they’d send her mother to jail and seventeen-year-old Beth who knows where. So she protects her mom at all costs. Until the day her uncle swoops in and forces Beth to choose between her mom’s freedom and her own happiness. That’s how Beth finds herself living with an aunt who doesn’t want her and going to a school that doesn’t understand her. At all. Except for the one guy who shouldn’t get her, but does….

Ryan Stone is the town golden boy, a popular baseball star jock-with secrets he can’t tell anyone. Not even the friends he shares everything with, including the constant dares to do crazy things. The craziest? Asking out the Skater girl who couldn’t be less interested in him.

But what begins as a dare becomes an intense attraction neither Ryan nor Beth expected. Suddenly, the boy with the flawless image risks his dreams-and his life-for the girl he loves, and the girl who won’t let anyone get too close is daring herself to want it all….

I applied for this book via Netgallery and didn’t get it, but I knew I had to have it, so here it is and I’m enjoying it this far. Beth’s story was so sad in the first book, and while i’m glad it expands on that story – it makes me sad. Even this far in there are a few character twists that have really thrown me, but I’m not enough into it to yet see how I feel about that. I can say with 100% satisfaction that Noah and Echo are still together and after “Pushing The Limits” I’m over the moon about that!

So I’m in enough to know i want to read it and want to pick it up – and we shall see how it turns out. You all know I LOVE quotes, so i’ll leave a few here for you – and then you let me know what you think – have you read it? Do you want to? What’s your Thursday book talk for this week? Let’s get this MeMe growing!

Quotes from “Dare You To”

You’re a lot like that bird in the barn.  You’re so scared that you’re going to be caged in forever you can’t see the way out.  You smack yourself against the wall again and again and again.  The door is open, Beth.  Stop running in circles and walk out.”

I usually like to include romantic, mushy quotes, but I think this book is also about Beth’s strength and I wanted to show that – see I can be different! haha.. Alright guys, good night and let’s hear from you! Anything?? I need some comments!
